Book icon FAQ
What does this icon show?
Closed book with two title lines on the cover and a page block at the bottom, for reading, docs and libraries. Typical uses: documentation link in the navigation, course catalog card and library resource listing.
When should I use it instead of a similar icon?
Use it for:
- Documentation links in a site header, a footer or a developer portal sidebar
- Print and ebook titles in a bookstore, a library catalog or an order history
- Required readings on a course syllabus, 1 row per title with the chapter range
For meeting notes and memos a user writes in a notes app, use the Notepad icon. For a reader view or a Continue reading control for a title in progress, use the Book Open icon. For a contacts list of saved people with their numbers and emails, use the Address Book icon.
Which styles does it come in?
4 styles: Outline, Solid, Duotone and Filled. Every style is drawn on the same 24 by 24 grid and installs as its own file, so you can switch styles without touching the layout.
How do I install it with the shadcn CLI?
Copy the install command from the panel above, in the style you want, and run it in your project. The shadcn CLI adds the icon as a React component that you import and render like any other. It draws in the current text color, so your text color and size classes style it. Icon installs need a ReUI Ultimate license.
What icons go well with it?
Icons from the same family and the Education set: Book Open, Book Square, Address Book, Award, Crown and Crown Pointed.
When was it added?
It joined the ReUI icon library on June 30, 2026.
